Why can't Remnant editor Michael Matt say this, today, of the Francis Church?

In 2000, Matt in "We Resist You To The Face" wrote:

I disagree with Michael Matt's premise. When you're an ideological thinker who takes an ideological stand, of course you're going to see the world in terms of us vs. them. Apart from the minority of ideologically charged liberals and ideologically charged traditionalists trying fiercely to provoke and condemn one another, there is the mainstream of the Church that goes bustling on through history like always.
